If you judge people, you have no time to love them. - Mother Teresa

I’m a liberal. A liberal who actually believes in God. Yes, you can notify the press now, there is a liberal that, whole-heartedly, believes in God. What I do not believe is that God solves my problems. I do not believe God rescues the faithful. I do not believe he cures the sick. I do not believe God put my mother’s cancer in remission. I do believe God is perfect. I believe that because God is perfect he doesn’t play favorites. He doesn’t take sides. God doesn’t pick and choose who gets cured and who suffers. Those are a consequence of free will. I believe that if we live right and treat our fellow man properly God will take care of us when we die. That is a consequence of free will as well.

Now, with all that being said, do I believe my faith in God helps me through life? Yes, actually I do. It is my faith in God that tells me to love all men and women equally Muslim, christian, Buddhist, Hindi, gay, straight, black, white, Indian, Hispanic, Latino. It is my faith in God that makes my decisions on earth. It is my faith in God that makes me want to be better while I live, because the closer to perfect I can be, the closer God’s faith in me will be justified.

What does this speak to your faith in God and his creation if you believe his creations are abominations? Does your faith teach you that God is not perfect after all?

What does that speak to your faith in God and his ability to inspire? God does not inspire? God can only inspire you?

Faith, of and in itself, is beautiful and clear and inspiring. Let the ideals of your faith inspire you to work for the good of mankind and not for the good of your faith.

Rather than spread the word of God, spread the intent of God’s words.

God told us, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” So first I am to love myself rightly, and then to love my neighbor like that. But how can I love myself unless I accept myself as God has made me? – Mother Theresa
